Vision and warding
How vision works on the Rift: brush, wards, trinkets, control wards and sweepers, and where vision matters most.
You only see what your team sees. Every champion, minion, turret and ward lights up a circle around it; everything else is fog of war. Information wins fights before they start, and wards are how you buy it.
Brush
Tall grass blocks sight from outside. A champion standing in brush cannot be seen by enemies who are not in the same brush, unless they have a ward or a reveal effect on it. Brush is where ambushes are set and where a careful player checks first.

Stealth Ward- The trinket every player starts with. It places an invisible ward that lasts a short while, then recharges.
Control Ward- Bought from the shop and visible to the enemy. It stays until destroyed, reveals and disables enemy wards near it, and each player can only have one on the map at a time.
Oracle Lens- A trinket that sweeps the area around you and reveals hidden wards so they can be destroyed. Junglers and supports often switch to it.
Farsight Alteration- A trinket that places a fragile, visible ward at long range. Marksmen use it to check a brush from safety.
The trinkets can be swapped at your base's shop. Supports also gain extra wards through their starting item's quest. All four are on the items list with their current numbers.
Where vision matters
- Around objectives before they spawn: the side that owns the vision around the dragon or Baron pit decides when the fight starts.
- River entrances and jungle paths your lane opponent's jungler uses to reach you.
- Your own jungle when you are ahead, to spot the enemy jungler stealing camps.
- Brush near your carries in late game, where a single unseen enemy can end a fight.
Denying vision
Killing enemy wards blinds them. Sweepers and control wards find hidden wards; once revealed, any champion can attack a ward to destroy it. Clearing the enemy's vision just before an objective is how teams take it unseen.
