Jungle camps and epic monsters

Every neutral monster on Summoner's Rift, from the buff camps to the dragons, Voidgrubs, Rift Herald and Baron Nashor, and what each one gives.

Describes the 2026 season

Between the lanes live neutral monsters that belong to nobody until someone kills them. The small camps feed the jungler; the epic monsters are what whole teams fight over.

Jungle camps

Blue Sentinel (blue buff)
Grants a buff that restores mana and shortens cooldowns. Mages and mana-hungry junglers want it.
Red Brambleback (red buff)
Grants a buff that makes basic attacks burn and slow. Popular on junglers and marksmen.
Gromp
A single large toad near the blue buff.
Murk Wolves
A large wolf and two small ones.
Raptors
A pack of birds next to the red buff.
Krugs
Rock creatures that split into smaller ones.
Rift Scuttler
A crab that walks the river. Killing it raises a shrine that gives vision and speed along the river for a while.

Smite and the jungle companion

The jungler takes Smite, which deals true damage to monsters and is the surest way to land the last hit on an objective. With it they buy one of three companions, which grows as it is fed camps and changes what the jungler's Smite does to champions.

Drakes and the dragon soul

  • Elemental drakes spawn in the dragon pit in the bottom half of the river. Each one killed gives the whole team a permanent bonus of that element.
  • After the second drake, the map changes to match the element that will be fought over for the rest of the game, adding terrain or effects of that element.
  • The first team to four drakes earns the dragon soul, a much stronger permanent bonus of that element.
  • Once a soul is claimed, the Elder Dragon spawns in its place. Its buff is temporary and lets your damage execute enemies at low health, which usually ends games.

The other epic monsters

The top half of the river hosts three monsters in turn, Voidgrubs, then the Rift Herald, then Baron Nashor. The Elder Dragon only appears once a dragon soul is claimed.

Voidgrubs

Early in the game a group of Voidgrubs spawns in the top half of the river. Killing them gives a stacking buff that helps the team damage turrets and summons small void creatures to attack structures alongside them.

Rift Herald

The Rift Herald follows the Voidgrubs in the same pit. Killing her drops the Eye of the Herald; whoever picks it up can summon her to charge down a lane and slam into an enemy turret, often taking it or most of its health.

Baron Nashor

Baron Nashor takes over the top pit once the Herald is gone and stays for the rest of the game, respawning after each kill. Every living member of the team that kills him gets Hand of Baron: bonus attack damage and ability power, a faster recall, and empowered minions near them. It is the strongest siege tool in the game.
