Super minions are highly durable and powerful minions that have melee attack range. They only spawn on a lane while that lane's enemy inhibitor is downed, replacing the siege minion that would have spawned in the wave.
Super minions spawn at the front of the wave. On Summoner's Rift, when all three inhibitors are destroyed, a second super minion will spawn in each lane.
Notes
- Minions deal 60% damage against structures and champions.
- Super minions uniquely deal 12.5% damage against non-turret structures specifically instead.
- Minions upgrade every 90 seconds. Super minions may increase their health, health regeneration, attack damage, and gold bounty.
- Super minions have the cosmetic items Super Mech Armor and Super Mech Power Field:
- Super minions will stop spawning two waves before the lane's enemy inhibitor respawns, in order to prevent that inhibitor from being instantly destroyed again because of the succeeding super minions spawned.
- Super minions are always visible to enemies through the Fog of War.
Map-Specific Differences
- In ARAM, super minions:
- Have a gold bounty equal to 45 gold (+ 0.35 / 90s).
- Grant nearby allies 20% bonus movement speed while they are out-of-combat.
Trivia
- Super minions easily push unprotected lanes and destroy enemy turrets. They have much higher stats than any other minion, being so strong that they can sometimes go toe to toe with weaker champions—especially less durable ones who lack waveclear. They are the reason inhibitors are a high priority objective.
- In League of Legends: Turret Defence, their old featured as wave enemies.
- The super minion's animations were reused for the walking Nexus in Nexus Blitz.
- Super minions had different names during development:
- Since Beta 3, super minions have been referred to as mech minion in the game files. This name was used for the minion's cosmetic items.
- The similar minion types anti-turret cannon and ranged mech minion were unused in Summoner's Rift, but made an appearance during very old versions of the Crystal Scar.
- Their prior name is currently unknown.
- Visually, super minions pilot a mech suit. The blue team (Order) super minions utilize two control sticks to drive their mech while red team (Chaos) super minions utilize a crystal sphere.
