How to play against Xerath

To beat Xerath in Bot on patch 26.20, start by knowing what you are up against: Xerath is a balanced pick this patch with a 51.7% win rate across 12,300 ranked games at a 0.8% pick rate. The champions that beat Xerath hardest right now are Sivir, Kai'Sa, Draven: Sivir wins 55.2% of the lane against it. Any of these is a safe counter pick. Xerath is strongest early (54.8% before 25 minutes) and falls off, so survive the early game and the matchup swings your way. Playing the matchup itself: Xerath's range can be intimidating, but most champions who close distance with him can trade favorably. Xerath takes a long time to engage Rite of the Arcane. Watch for his spellcast animation and start dodging. Banshee's Veil will make it much harder for Xerath to land Shocking Orb on you. Pick a counter from the list above, respect Xerath's power spikes, and track its cooldowns so you only commit to trades when its key abilities are down. Counter data updates automatically every patch.
