How to play against Thresh

To beat Thresh in Support on patch 26.20, start by knowing what you are up against: Thresh is an S-tier pick this patch with a 52.0% win rate across 22,131 ranked games at a 16.1% pick rate. The champions that beat Thresh hardest right now are Soraka, Zyra, Morgana: Soraka wins 53.1% of the lane against it. Any of these is a safe counter pick. Thresh is strongest early (52.0% before 25 minutes) and falls off, so survive the early game and the matchup swings your way. Playing the matchup itself: Thresh's Death Sentence has a long cast time. Watch for the cast to begin to take evasive actions. Intentionally breaking a wall of The Box can allow a vulnerable ally to escape unscathed. Thresh relies on collecting souls for a portion of his defense and damage. Try punishing him when he moves to collect them. Pick a counter from the list above, respect Thresh's power spikes, and track its cooldowns so you only commit to trades when its key abilities are down. Counter data updates automatically every patch.
