Jax Counters

How to play against Jax

To beat Jax in Top on patch 26.20, start by knowing what you are up against: Jax is a strong pick this patch with a 50.7% win rate across 8,033 ranked games at a 5.6% pick rate. The champions that beat Jax hardest right now are Garen, Mordekaiser, Yone: Garen wins 53.1% of the lane against it. Any of these is a safe counter pick. Jax scales: its win rate climbs to 53.2% past 40 minutes, so deny it farm early and force fights before it comes online. Playing the matchup itself: Try to engage him in short bursts instead of going toe-to-toe with him. Preventing him from attacking consecutively drastically lowers his damage output. Jax can dodge all incoming attacks for a very short amount of time and stuns enemies in melee range when it ends. Wait to strike him until after his dodge is finished. Pick a counter from the list above, respect Jax's power spikes, and track its cooldowns so you only commit to trades when its key abilities are down. Counter data updates automatically every patch.

Pros have picked Jax in 9 of the last 111 recorded games (8%), winning 67% of them. See the pro build.
